Dear Lions Youth Camp Participants,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the

2015 Lions Youth Camp Hungary!

We are proud to announce that this year’s Lions Youth Camp will be hosted by the First Lions Club Miskolc cooperated with the other lions club of the city, the Lady Lions Club Miskolc.

We are excited at the prospect of welcoming you all in Hungary!
In the short summary below, please let us introduce to you the key highlights of the program.

Location

The Camp will be based in Miskolc, a city of around 160,000 inhabitants in the Northern part of Hungary. The city itself is in a valley, right next to one of the biggest national parks of Hungary. There are about twenty smaller lakes nearby where you can - and you will, if you join us – enjoy many different kinds of water sports. Your accommodation will be in the recreational area of the city, in a small hotel exclusively reserved for the participants of the 2015 Lions Youth Camp.

The average daily temperature in July is 20°C (68°F), but the daily max. temperature is 27°C (80°F). The chance for rain is very low.

Fun, Nature and Culture

Fun

For the duration of the 12 days of the camp, we have planned plenty of water sports and adventures. The most notable ones will include visiting water parks, whitewater rafting and the most unique opportunity to be able to plunge into the waters of the famous unique Cave Baths and Spa of Miskolc-Tapolca. We will also take you to see the Zoo and have fun at the Adventure Park in Miskolc. If you are a fan of rides, summer bobsledding will surely be a breathtaking experience that you will never forget. (The bobsled track, by the way, is close to your accommodation.) And, last but not least, open-air parties and dancing will, of course, not to be missed during the warm summer evenings.

Nature

The camp accommodation is only 15 km (about 10 miles) away from one of the biggest national parks of Hungary, where we plan to organize not only team competitions but also a night hiking tour. One of our excursions will begin by taking the small forest railway from the city, then wandering around the picturesque forest in the surroundings and taking a short break at a charming little waterfall. You will also have the chance to explore a natural cave, which is a popular tourist destination in the area and can be visited just wearing normal clothes.

Culture

The rich cultural heritage and traditions of the city of Miskolc - and Hungary in general - will be introduced to you during various team events, competitions and creative art workshops. In order to learn about one of the most prominent examples of local cultural heritage, we are planning to visit one of the most magnificent castle hotels of Hungary. On the list of attractions in the neighborhood, the recently renovated medieval kings’ castle is also well worth seeing. To learn more about performing arts, we will also organize a behind-the-scenes tour of the National Theatre of Miskolc, which will be an exclusive experience solely organized for the participants of the 2015 Lions Summer Youth Camp.

At Camp

The days at camp will not only be full of excitement but will help all of us to get to know each other better. Counting on your enthusiastic country presentations, we will also learn a lot about each other’s countries and cultures. Make no mistake; the well-loved Hungarian gastronomy will also help to make your days memorable. During your entire stay you will have many opportunities to taste traditional Hungarian dishes prepared in the ‘real-Hungarian way’.

Social Responsibility

True to one of the founding principles of Lions International, our Club puts great emphasis on providing our international campers with opportunities to engage in activities focusing on social responsibility. To introduce to you our local initiatives, you will be able to get to know the work of the Guide-Dog Training School based in Miskolc. On another occasion you will assist the local Zoo in caring for some of their lovely smaller (or maybe even bigger) animals.

Visiting the Capital

The last two days of the Camp will be spent in Budapest, the world-famous Hungarian capital city, where our entire group will visit the main sights and local attractions.

Kedves Táborozók!

2015-től 3 éven keresztül a Magyarországon megrendezett Lions Ifjúsági Tábor helyszíne Miskolc lesz. Az esemény házigazdája az Első Miskolci Lions Klub, közreműködve a Lady Lions Klub, Miskolccal.

Ezen rövid összefoglalóval szeretnénk nektek bemutatni, hogy mit várhattok, ha a magyar tábort választjátok 2015-ben.

A tábor központja Miskolcon lesz. A 160 000 fős település különös természeti és kulturális adottságokkal rendelkezik. Egy völgyben helyezkedik el, a völgy végén az ország egyik legnagyobb nemzeti parkja található. A város környékén 20-nál több édesvizű tó található, ahol számos sportág művelhető.

Szállásunk a város üdülőövezetében, egy olyan hotelben lesz, ahol csak mi, táborozók leszünk.

Táborunk szlogenje: móka, természet, kultúra!

Móka:
A 12 napos táborra sok vizi programot tervezünk. Strand, csúszdapark, vadvizi evezés és a kihagyhatatlan Barlangfürdő.
Meglátogatjuk a város állatkertjét és kalandparkba is megyünk. A nyári bob is kihagyhatatlan, ami a szállásunk szomszédjában van. Természetesen lesz buli és tánc is.

Természet:
A szállásunktól a Nemzeti Park mindössze 15 km-re van, így erdei vetélkedőket szervezünk Nektek valamint egy éjszakai túrát is tervezünk. Erdei vasúttal járjuk be a vadregényes erdőket és megnézzük a függőkertet valamint Magyarország legnagyobb vízesését is. Egy utcai ruhában is látogatható, jól kiépített barlangban is eltöltünk egy délelőttöt.

Kultúra:
A városunk jelentős kulturális értékekkel rendelkezik. Játékos vetélkedő keretében ismerkedünk meg a város értékeivel, meglátogatjuk az ország egyik legszebb kastélyszállóját és terveink szerint kreatív foglalkozásokat is szervezünk. A 2014-ben felújított királyi vár az egyik kirándulásunk célpontja. A ti segítségetekkel a saját országaitok kultúráját, szokásait is.

A híres magyar gasztronómia teszi teljessé a mindennapjainkat.

Jószolgálat:

A Lions alapértékeihez híven jószolgálati munkában is részünk lesz. Megismerkedünk a Vakvezető Kutya Iskola munkájával és a helyi állatkertben segítünk az állatok gondozásában.

A tábor utolsó két napját Budapesten töltjük, ahol a magyar főváros nevezetességeit látogatjuk meg.

A tábor előtt minden fontos információt egy zárt facebook csoportban osztunk meg veletek, ahol hamarosan el is kezdhettek ismerkedni egymással.

Remélem sikerült meggyőzni titeket arról, hogy egy fantasztikus tábor lesz Magyarországon!
